Fur and Feathers Pet Care

 Animals have always been important to me. Even as a child I always had stuffed animals instead of baby dolls and barbies.

I bred cockateils for 4 years and hand fed them. I sold them with a birth certificate and a promise that I would always take the bird back if at anytime the new owners couldn't care for the bird.

I stopped breeding when I had my second child. The breeding was too much with two little ones.

I raise Monarch Butterflies during the summer. I planted thier host plants (where they lay their eggs) collect the eggs and raise them until they become butterflies and then release them. To date I have released 250 butterflies.

I still have my first pair of birds. Crackers is 16 years old now and Daisy is 20 years old now. (I lost Daisy last year at the age of 22 and Cracker this year at the age of 19)

 I also have three dogs, all were adopted. Our Shamus was suppose to be a foster dog who didn't leave our home. Lucky was hit by a car infront of our vets office and our vet and the staff saved him. When they found the owner they did not want him anymore. He lived at the vet for weeks with a broken back leg and then I met him and brought him home and he never left. Our Diamond was dumped on my front porch (neighbors saw them) in terrible conditions, smelly and ungroomed for many months. I had her groomed and again she never left. Do you see a pattern here? :0) I also have  a parakeet named Benny and a pond of fish. I have had rats as pets, yes rats, they make great pets.

I started pet sitting 11 years ago just as something I loved to do. I couldn't wait till families went away and I was able to spend time with thier pets.

Being a stay at home mom for 20 years and working part time, I always wondered  what my passion was, not knowing it was staring me in the face everyday at home and at homes of pets that I pet sat for. Animals are my passion. After considering the time and dedication of owning my own business I decided to open Fur and Feathers Pet Care.
