For as long as I can remember, I have loved animals. As a girl, I never wanted a doll -- it was always stuffed animals following me around. And if I was invited to a party, I would spend most of my time hanging around with the pets, rather than the hosts.
Luckily for me, my family has always been supportive of my need to care for animals. My husband and two children have helped me raise dogs, birds, lizards, fish, and even turtles. There was even a time where I hand raised cockatiels and over 250 monarch butterflies! Today, we have two rescued dogs -- Lucky, a beagle, and Diamond, a shih tzu/ poodle mix.
After 20 years of raising my own, I knew it was time for me to follow my passions and work with animals. My first job was working in a kennel where I learned to care for dogs and maintain their tight living space. However, I started to notice that the dogs I was caring for weren’t getting the comfort or love that they needed. There was no outdoor time for them to stretch their legs or one-on-one time with the workers. And when I brought this up to the management, I was told that there just “wasn’t time.”
But I knew better. I knew that there was always time for love, especially for our pets. In June of 2007, Fur and Feathers Pet Care was born with the vision to provide dogs, cats, birds, and other pets with the gift of my and my equally passionate employees’, time, energy, and love. Since then, my heart and my business has grown with each and every family member that joins.
